Who's behind this
AI Tool Drop is run by Jesse, a solo operator who builds and runs real businesses on AI: content sites, email automation serving a 12,000+ subscriber list, AI-generated audio products, and full-stack web apps built with Claude. The tools recommended here aren't researched, they're the ones running those businesses right now.
How tools get tested
Before anything gets recommended on this site, it goes through the same gauntlet:
We pay for it. Free trials tell you about the free trial. We test on real paid plans with real usage.
We use it in a live business. Not a demo project, an actual system with actual customers on the other end.
We show our work. Reviews include real screenshots, real prompts, and real outputs. If a tool disappointed us, we say so.
We disclose everything. Some links are affiliate links (full disclosure here). A commission never changes a verdict, several tools we recommend pay us nothing, and several tools that would pay us well didn't make the cut.
Meet Ripple
The droplet in the corner of every page is Ripple, our stack advisor. The name is the site's logo doing its job: one idea drops in, and Ripple shows you what spreads out from it, the tools, the order to buy them, and the honest monthly cost.
Ripple is deliberately narrow. It is scoped to exactly one body of knowledge, the tools in our directory and the systems on the stacks page, and it is instructed to do exactly one thing: ask what you are building, then hand you a 3-to-5-tool stack with each tool's role in your specific project, links, the total cost, and one honest money-saving tip. It will happily tell you what not to buy yet, because a smaller stack that ships beats a bigger one that does not. Ask it about anything other than picking tools and it will politely steer you back, which is not a limitation. It is the reason its answers stay sharp instead of drifting into generic AI chatter.
Under the hood it runs on Claude, the same brain at the center of every workflow we publish, which feels right to us. Try it from any page: click the droplet, tell it what you are building, and see what ripples out.
Why "solo operators"?
Most AI coverage is written for enterprises or for developers. This site is for the person running a business by themselves, the coach, the creator, the store owner, the consultant, who needs systems that work without a team. Every workflow published here can be run by one person.
